Events of June 23 in Kaukauna - part 2

The jury is still in recess. However, there has been an important change.
Bishop Lee has decided that the penalty requested by the counsel for the church is NOT permissible according to a ruling by the Judicial Council. The request for Amy to be suspended until she signs a written statement would be tantamount to an indefinite suspension. Therefore it would not be upheld.

Still they could vote to expel, defrock or suspend. Of course, there are also other options - I guess infinite options - including the invitation from Janet Wolf to host listening circles or other restorative processes.

The court continues to be in recess. Bishop Lee invited us to go to lunch saying that nothing will happen before 1:00pm - which it now is.

I went across the street to a little restaurant. Janet Wolf sat at our table! We were talking about The Man Jesus Loved by Ted Jennings. Janet said that her husband and she are best friends with Ted and his wife. Recently they were in Acapulco and Ted was talking about how our constructs of gender and class and race actually prevent us from seeing people at all. We really can't engage others when we are bound up with our own baggage. The next day when Janet and Ted walked on the beach, Janet said she literally saw what Ted was talking about. She couldn't believe how he was so clearly known as someone who interacts with everyone and respects everyone no matter what they look like or who they are. Janet said it was shocking and she learned a lot. Also, she said it is instructive to debate theology while drinking beer in Acapulco. I don't know about that, but it is good to talk about theology while drinking coffee in Kaukauna.

The court room is home to lots of conversations right now. Everyone is waiting... At the risk of sharing WAY too much, I'm sitting in back with my laptop. Tex Sample just walked past me to use the restroom. As he walked in I heard him say to the person next to him, "I like this room because it's the only place where I really know what I'm doing."

Many conversations happening, mostly in twos and threes.
